A Web Collage on
Southwest Florida's Environment
The pictures above might be a pretty good idea of how many people view Florida. But there is much more to Florida's environment than that. Because we are surrounded by water on 3 sides, we have swamps, beaches, oceans, and strip malls all within a few miles of each other. We have a huge diversity in our wildlife. We have panthers, alligators, bald eagles, dolphins, and burrowing owls all within miles of each other. Our weather is also like no other place in the country, and it too has a great effect on how we live our lives. One big thing that Colloquium has done has helped me expand my view of the local environment around us. The field trips, lectures, and the actual environment surrounding the school have helped me see how unique of a place I live in and has given me a much greater appreciation for it. What I have done at this site is to try to give a representation of the real environment here in Florida as I have seen it over this last semester. Enjoy!
